San Gennaro

On 19 September 305 near the solfatara of Pozzuoli the saints Gennaro, Sossio Procolo, Festus and Desiderius were beheaded, plus the story tells, two spectators who had protested for the cruelty of the Romans.  The head of San Gennaro was thrown into the Gulf of Pozzuoli and according to legend it was found in Naples on a beach.  For the blood there are two versions, it was collected by a blind man who recovered his sight for the occasion, or by a pious woman named Eusebia who kept it in two ampoules. The first liquefaction of the saint’s blood took place on August 17, 1389. Since then, the miracle of liquefaction is celebrated twice every year in May and September. The miracle turned out to be independent of the environmental conditions of light and heat. What to tell you? La prima liquefazione del sangue del santo avvenne il 17 agosto 1389. Da allora, il miracolo della liquefazione viene celebrato due volte all’anno a maggio e il 19 settembre. Il miracolo si rivelò indipendente dalle condizioni ambientali di luce e calore. Cosa dirti?
