Drawing with the Sun
I knew Mr. John Herschel from a legendary portrait shot by photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. Much later I discovered that he was a scientist who with various risky procedures in 1842 invented the Cyan-blue print or Cyanotype. A friend of his Mrs. Anna Atkins, adopted the technique and published the first photography book in history. Anna Atkins botanical photos in Cyanotype. Cyan-blue prints were very popular in Victorian England, nowadays is in the Guinness Book of Records the largest Cyan-blue print, 276,64 m2 \2977,76 ft2.
This collection is only a 10by8 negatives, printed on cotton paper \Cyan-blue.
